Sending Off, The Beginning
As I begin a new journey of teaching dance at Snow College, I also sent my oldest daughter, Nadia off on a new journey to her first year of college. Two new huge adventurous stories happening simultaneously in my life. The dynamics in my professional and personal space are transforming dramatically. In Birringer's article Dance and Interactivity, he quotes Lumley saying, "...all things are understood to be dynamic contextual inclusions that both include and are included; i.e. wherein 'self' is to 'other' as whirlpool is to riverflow." The corresponding relevance of these two phenomena conversing at this point in time in my life brings a variety of definitions for of self and other. Self as the college teacher and other as my mind and heart go off with my daughter. Both of these contexts relating to the other as they include me along the way.
